PMP Contact Hours

How do I get 35 contact hours:

In College?
It does not matter when you attended the training hours. You can document all education hours regardless of when you got the education. You may go all the way back to your college years and list all the courses you took related to project management. If you have attended any seminars or evening classes while you were at school/College, that can be counted towards your contact hours.

At Work?
Did you attend any project management related classes at work?  It is very likely you attended a trainibng before your first job as a project Manager. It could be a  full class room based training or it be a online training on Skill Portal of your organization. All the hours into topics like Software Project Planning, Communication skill, Project time estimation, resource allocation  etc would count. List all the courses you have taken.

Still short ?
If all the above do not add up to 35 contact hours, then you should take formal training on project management right away if you are planning to take the exam this year. I suggest you can contact your project manager/ supervisor and discuss with him to arrange for a internal training from your company.

Personally, I think it is a overkill to attend those classes that cost way too much.  Search internet and there are few training companies which offer a brief training program at a price range of Rs5000/- and you get the required contact hours and a good introduction to the Framework.

Give Actual.
Reading books by yourself does not count towards the contact hours. It has to be formal education. Be honest!!  If you do not have the required contact hours, complete the training before you fill your application!!
